The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is rad. It’s quick, comfortable, practical as hell and looks great with its Lightning-specific lighting (say that three times fast). It looks even better with a good coat of paint. So, we’re asking the important question: Which of the 10 available colors would you pick if you are planning on getting one?
Lucky for you, I have strong and completely biased opinion as well as a platform from which to spout them. Here are the best Ford Lightning colors, ranked.
Just because your Lightning is powered by the same thing as a shitty apartment refrigerator doesn’t mean it has to look like one.
It’s “greige” and it’s boring. The Lightning is an exciting truck, and you can do better than this boring-ass non-color.
It’s like Oxford White, but this time the refrigerator comes from a much nicer apartment and you have to pay extra for it. The metallic flake in this makes it suck less, but it’s still a snoozer.
Carbonized Gray doesn’t necessarily look bad, per se, and it does work well with the Lightning’s blue badging, but why spend this kind of money on a truck if you’re trying to just disappear in traffic?
Again this looks good with the blue badging, and it’s a little more eye-catching and dynamic than gray, but you’re better than silver, and you know it.
Sure, it’s the color of drywall, but its at least sort of interesting-looking drywall. Add in the fact that these kinds of colors are super hot right now (see: Porsche’s Chalk or Audi’s Nardo Gray) and this isn’t a half-bad choice, especially if you install drywall for a living.
Azure Gray Metallic is sort of the Lightning’s signature color and while this screenshot makes it look kind of muted, I can say that in the metal, it’s a lot more dynamic. Unfortunately, it’s an almost $800 option, which sucks.
Yeah, yeah, I made fun of white and gray for being boring, and black would normally get lumped right in with them, but in this case, I have to give it a pass for looking so damned good on this truck. I mean, just look at it, and it’s a no-cost color which is a bonus. Good luck keeping it clean, though.
I’m not usually a huge fan of red vehicles, but in the metal, this color is phenomenal. It’s deep and glossy, and really suits the character of the Lightning. Of course, the whole red truck with blue badging thing is lame, but you can’t have it all. Also, it’s a $495 option, which sucks.
Ford typically does fantastic blues and this is one of their best (apart from the Liquid Blue that it uses for concept cars). It’s darker than you’d think, but really pops in direct sunlight and it suits the Lightning the best of all the available hues by a country mile. The fact that this is a no-cost option also just makes it a no-brainer. Be awesome and buy your Lightning in Antimatter Blue Metallic.
