You Can Still Buy 17 Hatchbacks in the U.S.

The Integra is the first and newest member of this elite group. It may be based on the Civic platform, but it’s loaded with all sorts of luxury and tech you’d be hard-pressed to find on a more pedestrian Civic. On top of that, you can spec it with a manual transmission!

The Bolt is the cheapest EV you can currently buy in the U.S., and it comes as standard with a hatchback! You get over 240 miles of electric range for less money than a Camry. What more could you want?

The Spark is the overall second cheapest car on this list, but it’s also dying very soon. If you want a new one, you better hop to it. It’s also got just about the best color selection in the auto industry for anything under $100,000.

The Civic is pretty much the gold standard of hatchbacks in the U.S. With the next-generation Type R coming out soon, it’s sure to be even better. The only issue is you cannot get an Si hatchback, and the Integra exists.

The Ioniq 5 is a curious one. It looks amazing. I’d go so far as to say it’s the best looking vehicle on this list. But, it’s a bit strange for a hatchback. It looks as if you put a normal hatch into a copy machine and selected “130 percent”. It’s just a little big, but I still count it, because I like it.

Here’s another soon to be fallen soldier. The regular Veloster has already been killed off, so the Veloster N isn’t long for this world. It’s a shame. It’s the only three door on sale right now, for better or worse.

The EV6 is very similar to the Ioniq 5, which makes sense. They’re pretty much the same car. It looks nearly as good as the 5, as well. Is it a little big to be a hatchback? Maybe, but this is my list, not yours.

The Soul is a funky lil guy, and the perfect car if you need something compact but still want to stand out from the crowd. I guess you could say it’s got a bit of soul to it.

The Mazda 3 hatch is also in the running for prettiest car on the list, especially in that red paint. It just looks so good, and no I don’t give a shit that it has huge blindspots. Form over function every day of the week, baby.

The Mini is getting a little bit long in the tooth at this point, but regardless of that fact, it’s still iconic. Get a Cooper S or John Cooper Works and you’ll have a little monster on your hands.

Mitsubishi’s little hatchback is the cheapest one of this list. I may not be the best car on this list, but it’s certainly charming. Did I mention how cheap it is? It’s super cheap.

The Leaf is critically underrated. More people should consider this car. It costs a bit more than the Bolt, but it’s a bit prettier as well.

This is one of the few ways you can get all wheel driver on a hatchback. It’s a shame there isn’t a WRX or STI hatch anymore, but it’s okay. This lil guy is still pretty neat.

Toyota is a real one for brining back the hatchback Corolla for the first time in years. Props to them. Oh, and the GR Corolla is coming soon too, and that’s almost certainly going to be a hoot.

It’s wild how the Prius went from ubiquitous to nearly irrelevant. I wish more of them were around. I even like the unconventional styling, and yes, it counts as a hatchback.

The Golf is quite literally the standard bearer when it comes to hatchbacks. Unfortunately, the regular Golf is gone in the U.S., but it lives on in the GTI. I love it. It still looks great to me. The interior... not so much.

Want a GTI but more? The Golf R is the answer for you. It’s got just about 300 horsepower, all wheel drive and your choice of a manual or DCT transmission. Oh, and that blue it comes in rocks.
